As I think about our mission - God's mission, going and making disciples is all about breaking the bread of life with as many as possible. We have a choice- to sit in the crowd and try to catch a glimpse of what Jesus does or to find a way into the middle of where Jesus is. We have to make that choice every day in our own lives and in light of what we are called to do on campuses around the world. I have this picture in my mind. We are putting the campus on the stretcher, getting the reality of its brokenness out in the open, putting wounded and lost people in front of Jesus, breaking down the barriers along the way and ignoring the naysayers. We are friends who love people enough to do whatever it takes - even if it's crazy- because every person matters to God. That is a picture of the gospel. It's amazing that Jesus calls and empowers us to bring others to Him, even as we continue to need the gospel ourselves.I can't help but read this through the lenses of my current reality on staff with Cru. As one of few ethnic-minority staff with the Campus Field Ministry of Cru, I can't help but think "we have a choice". In other parts of his letter, Mark refers to Acts 1:6-8 saying:

This promise, combined with the Great Commission, makes it clear that God doesn't challenge us to go to some places and people, but to all. In other words, the scope of God's mission is every tribe, tongue and nation.
Often I feel alone in this ministry and on occasion I feel defeated, as though everything and everyone is against me, similar to this paralyzed man. Yet again, Mark recalls 1 John 5:14-15 where we are promised to have what we ask according to God's will because HE HEARS!
